“MAP has worked with Paramount Grand Resorts to provide concept designs for an integrated resort for the Cotai Strip in Macau. There have been two incarnations for the project: the first based around a single three sided tower, the second around two simpler gently curved blocks.
A strong water element is consistent to both designs, and in the second scheme water weaves through a series of themed entertainment spaces culminating in a natural wave pool and aquarium. At the risk of being cliché, MAP chose water as the theme as the Paramount Grand want to be a family resort. Incorporating water into the concept, the resort becomes attractive to most families incorporating wave pools, waterslides, an aquarium and a mini-sea world in the design. While the concept is technically difficult, building a dramatic composition of fragmented and reassembled forms is a challenge MAP relishes.”
