MAP worked in partnership with the Link REIT to design improvements to the Lung Hang Shopping Center to comply with the Fire Service (Commercial Premises) Ordinance and at the same time re-brand the mall with minimum expenditure.
The Link required two new escalators from Ground to First floor to allow the supermarket to be moved to the First Floor. The escalators are GFA accountable. In order to release GFA for the escalators the MAP applied for approval to demolish an unproductive section of first floor balcony. The Chinese restaurant was moved to the ground floor and the supermarket moved to increase footfall to the first floor and increase the value of the tenancies on the first floor.
The design budget was low but MAP achieved a design that looks sophisticated and organized using a solid vinyl batt floor tile with a striking pattern in warm grey tones. The escalators had to be raised above the ground floor because there was insufficient head room in the car park below to set the escalators at floor level. MAP designed wide treads to the steps to the escalator platform to ensure that the steps are safe and comfortable. MAP upgraded the existing bathrooms to a totally new look and the construction price was very reasonable. MAP designed new signage for the exterior of the building which announces the renovations to the new look mall. MAP provided all AP and Design Services for the project. The project was finished on time and on budget.
