MAP has been the exclusive architectural designers on Sino Land’s upgrade of Sino Plaza Podium in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Sino Land decided to reposition the existing five-level structure as a luxury brand shopping centre, reducing the number of existing retailers in favour of fewer, larger, high-end stores.
The existing building facade has been flattened and simplified, providing better exposure and visibility for the retailers. Signage has been enlarged to provide more outdoor advertising income with the high-traffic exposure to Gloucester Road and the East Island Corridor.
Duplex retail stores line Percival Street, each with its own set of feature stairs. Each shop connects to the main lift lobby in order to access the office building. On the corner of the building (at Jaffe & Percival Roads) there is a feature escalator providing entry to the office building.
The second floor is a destination restaurant and bar area with extensive terrace dining that has views over Victoria Harbour. A dedicated glass lift, accessed off the street, provides diners with panoramic views as they ascend to eat and drink.
This is a landmark project in Causeway Bay and a flagship for Sino Land. MAP is very proud to be the executive architectural designer for this exciting project in Hong Kong.
